To cool off during the recent weeks of heat, many have taken the opportunity to buy a fan. The sudden demand has led to a shortage of the product in quite a few stores.
Mira Hagman, who works at Ica Maxi in Luleå, says that many fans are out of stock for the season.
– Fans come in now and then, but they sell out the same day.
She says they can sometimes sell out in just an hour.
– Sometimes customers see them on the website, but they are gone when they arrive. Of course, they can be a bit disappointed, but it's first come, first served.
High Customer Demand
Expressen has spoken with Ica Maxi in Falun, Sundsvall, Umeå, and Lindhagen in Stockholm. In these stores, fans are completely sold out.
– Sales really took off last Monday, and they were gone after a couple of days. The central warehouse is out of all variants, says an employee at Ica Maxi in Umeå who has received about 50 inquiries from customers searching in vain for fans.
Aiham Naieeb at Ica Maxi in Falun has also received many inquiries.
– When it's this hot, it's immediately what customers want. Many have asked, the latest just 30 minutes ago.
At Ica Maxi in Malmö, however, it's not completely sold out yet – there were two fans left in the store on Sunday afternoon when Expressen inquired.
Bauhaus: Running Out
The rush for fans is also noticeable at Bauhaus in the northern part of the country, an employee reports. The cheaper variants are sold out in the stores in both Umeå and Sundsvall.
However, there are still some fans left of the more expensive variants, for those willing to pay a bit more to cool off.
