Gunilla Persson's Clash with Pride – Performance Cancelled
Helsingborg Pride has cancelled Gunilla Persson's performance, reports Helsingborgs Dagblad. The reason? She didn't want to wake up early. However, Persson has a different perspective and plans to perform anyway.
This weekend marks the start of Helsingborg Pride, and Hollywood star Gunilla Persson was scheduled to perform on Saturday evening.
That will not happen, according to Helsingborgs Dagblad. The organizers have cancelled the artist due to collaboration difficulties.
– We have really worked to bring Gunilla Persson here to perform, but we reached a point where it simply couldn't be resolved within our budget and work capacity, says Albin Ganovic, project manager at Helsingborg Pride, to the newspaper.
– We cover travel within Sweden's borders, and in Gunilla's case, she would have needed to travel from Oslo early in the morning to change flights at Arlanda, and she didn't want to get up early. Therefore, she informed us that she would refrain from performing.
According to the organizers, another flight was suggested that would allow the artist to make it to the performance, but Gunilla Persson wanted to fly with both her dog and cat, and unfortunately, the plane's pet quota was already filled.
"I Will Be There"
Gunilla Persson, however, has a different view of what happened. She tells Helsingborgs Dagblad that she never expressed a desire not to perform at the festival. She denies the claims that the flight from Oslo was too early for her.
She argues that it was more about her and her daughter not having enough time to get their luggage during the layover at Arlanda.
She tells the newspaper that the organizer does not have the right to cancel her without valid reasons, which she believes do not exist.
– I have personally booked train and bus tickets down to Helsingborg, and I will be there at the time of my performance. The organizers' claim that their budget does not cover a rebooking of my trip should not be an issue as I am now covering that part myself, says Gunilla Persson.
Furthermore, she threatens to take legal action if the organizer does not pay her for the performance.
