Gröna Lund Enhances Security After Incident in Love Tunnel
Speakers and surveillance cameras were not enough. After a couple engaged in inappropriate behavior in the Love Tunnel over the weekend, security is being increased.
– The safety and security of our guests and employees will always be our top priority, says Cecilia Björling, Head of Information at Gröna Lund.
It was on Sunday that a couple in their 40s engaged in inappropriate behavior in the Love Tunnel.
“Take the opportunity to hold hands and maybe sneak a kiss. Anyone can fall in love here,” writes Gröna Lund on its website.
However, visitors are not expected to take it this far.
– What happened in the Love Tunnel on Sunday was both inappropriate and unacceptable. We are a family-friendly amusement park, says Cecilia Björling, Head of Information.
The Love Tunnel is monitored in real-time by employees via several cameras inside the tunnel.
– It's about quickly detecting if someone, for example, tries to get out of the boat, faints, or behaves inappropriately.
If someone stands up – or as on Sunday, engages in inappropriate behavior in the boat – the staff starts by announcing through the speakers, with prompts like “Sit down in the boat” or “Stop what you are doing.”
On Sunday, this had no effect.
“Not Fully Clothed”
The staff then called the security guards who took care of the couple. When the police arrived, the man and woman were questioned and identified.
At Gröna Lund, the incident led to an upgrade in security.
– After Sunday's incident, we have also introduced a new measure: turning on the lights in the tunnel as a reinforced signal. If the situation still does not cease, additional staff or police will be alerted if necessary, says Cecilia Björling.
During the summer of 2025, a “handful” of similar incidents have occurred, though not serious enough to require police intervention.
The police are now investigating the incident as “sexual harassment” with the security guards as the complainants. According to information from Expressen, visitors were also forced to witness the couple's act.
Exactly what happened in the love boat is unclear, but the couple is said to have been “not fully clothed.”
– It was staff who discovered the man and woman. Interviews have been conducted, but more will be held, says Per Fahlström, spokesperson for Stockholm police.
