Gotland Food Truck Vandalized: Owner Faces Major Setback
Gotland's André Laakso, 34, had just completed building his new food truck. Two months later, it was completely vandalized.
– It was pure vandalism. The only things stolen were a shrimp sandwich and a case of Red Bull, says André Laakso.
On Sunday morning, André Laakso was awakened by his phone ringing incessantly.
His street food truck, Laakso Streetfood, had been vandalized overnight.
– It looked like a mess. The windows were smashed, a knife was stuck right into the screen of the cash register, the card reader was cracked, and flower pots were thrown through the windows, says André Laakso, who previously spoke with Hela Gotland.
– The only things stolen were a shrimp sandwich and a case of Red Bull.
"Like a Threat"
He has been running Laakso Streetfood in Lärbro, Gotland, since 2021, but had just completed his new food truck. It was inaugurated in May.
– It doesn't feel great. It felt like a threat with the knife in the screen, he says.
Have you experienced anything like this before?
– No, definitely not.
André Laakso immediately went to the scene and began cleaning up. He collected items in paper bags to trace DNA.
– There was a lot they touched that the police believe they can find traces on. I don't think they were very smart guys, he says.
The incident has been reported to the police.
He plans to reopen the food truck on Tuesday. Until then, he estimates a loss of 50,000 SEK in revenue.
