Glider Crashes Near Halmstad Airport

A glider has crashed near Halmstad Airport. One person has been taken to the hospital with unclear injuries.

"The plane landed upside down," says Anders Lännholm from the Sea and Air Rescue.

The alarm about the accident was received at 12:38 PM on Saturday.

A glider was attempting to land at the airport but crashed for some reason a bit outside the runway.

"It landed upside down. We alerted all available resources in the area and are now there to right the plane and extract the pilot," says rescue leader Anders Lännholm from the Sea and Air Rescue.

At 1:25 PM, the police announced that the pilot had been rescued from underneath the plane and is conscious and able to speak. The extent of the injuries is otherwise unknown.

"We are there conducting initial investigations right now. At present, it is being treated as an accident," says police spokesperson Jennifer Last.

Authorities are also seeking witnesses. The area has been cordoned off.
