From a Snowy Ditch to a Family: Julia and Tobias' Heartwarming Journey

On a snowy February day in 2023, truck driver Julia Blad, 29, found herself stuck in a ditch. Tow truck operator Tobias came to her rescue. Now, exactly 2.5 years later, they have welcomed a child together.

On February 23, 2023, Julia was driving near Västerås when she had to swerve to avoid a car, causing her truck to slide into a ditch.

"I had to swerve for a car and ended up stuck. When I tried to accelerate, I slid down the side. Not my proudest moment," she says.

Three tow trucks arrived that day, one of them driven by Tobias. For five hours, Tobias and his colleagues worked to recover the vehicle.

Their connection continued afterward. Tobias, who also works in a metal workshop, offered to repair the truck's damage. Julia recalls being shaken by the accident, and Tobias reached out to check on her well-being.

"We were both interested, but he handled it very professionally," she says.

Initially living in different cities, they met regularly and eventually decided to settle in Västerås.

When asked what attracted her to Tobias, Julia answers without hesitation: his personality.

"He's not shy, but he has a calm demeanor. During the recovery, he stood in front of me for five hours, so you get to look at a person many times. I remember texting a friend: 'What if that's my future husband?'"

A Story That Went Viral – By Accident

Julia later shared their story on social media, intending only to reach her friends. However, the post spread far beyond her circle.

"Suddenly, I got notification after notification and didn't understand why. Then I saw how many people had commented. People wrote things like 'what a sunshine story' and 'then it's me going off the road.'"

The response surprised and delighted her.

"I was completely warmed in my heart."

On February 23, 2023, Julia went off the road. Exactly two years later, on August 23 this year, Julia and Tobias' son Sam was born. The time was 8:23 – the same numbers as the date 23/8. He also weighed 2,300 grams.

"That everything is 23... It almost feels like it was meant to be," says Julia.

Now, Julia and Tobias are enjoying life with their son Sam.

"He was born a little early, so we got extra time with him. Right now, we're just in the baby bubble," says Julia.
