Four Swedes Arrested in Major Gang Crackdown in Spain

Four Swedish nationals have been arrested in a major gang crackdown in Spain, according to reports from Borås Tidning. Several of the men are suspected of traveling to the country to prepare for a murder mission for a network, according to the information.

Two individuals reportedly left Sweden last week and traveled to Spain. The men are said to have connections to the criminal network Lejonen.

Individuals in that network are also reported to have ties to recently arrested Ismail Abdo and his Rumba network.

The reason for the trip, according to the newspaper's information, was to carry out a murder mission.

Noted Leader Figure Arrested

The individuals include a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man, both previously convicted of crimes with "clear signs of hitman assignments," according to BT.

The 19-year-old is described by Borås Tidning as a leading figure in the Lejonen network.

The operation is described as a collaboration between Swedish, Spanish, and European police.

– "Collaboration with other countries against organized crime is becoming increasingly important, as the problem clearly knows no borders," says Hampus Nygårds, regional police chief, to the newspaper.

The police do not want to elaborate on the suspicions currently directed at the men.

– "I don't want to go into that, but I can say it aligns with the type of criminality they have been involved in previously," says Detective Inspector Magnus Reinholdsson of Serious Crimes in Borås, to BT.
