Extended Train Cancellations in Västernorrland Due to Severe Weather
SJ has announced an extension of the train service suspension in and through Västernorrland until Monday, September 15. This update was shared on SJ's customer website.
The affected services include high-speed trains between Sundsvall and Umeå, and night trains between Stockholm and Luleå/Narvik. The suspension is due to heavy rainfall that has flooded parts of the railway.
Yesterday, SJ informed passengers that trains would be canceled until Thursday this week. Now, the period has been extended by four days.
Additionally, SJ trains are blocked for further booking until Thursday, September 18, as the suspension might be prolonged.
So far, a few departures have been replaced by buses.
– But it is extremely difficult to find buses now. All operators are facing the same issue, leading to competition for buses, says Johannes Cleris, press strategist and communicator at SJ.
