In the early hours of Saturday, police were alerted to a residential area in Södertälje following reports of an explosion. Upon arrival, it was discovered that an unknown object had exploded, causing damage to a car.
The alarm was received shortly after midnight at 00:12.
Several callers reported a loud bang in the Geneta area.
When police arrived at the scene, it was confirmed that damage had occurred to a car after an unknown object exploded.
No individuals were injured.
"We were on site to assist the police to ensure there was no potential fire spread or injured persons, which there were not," said Ante Hägglund, duty officer at the Rescue Center East, to Länstidningen.
During the operation, the police utilized a helicopter, and several people and vehicles found at the scene were checked.
No arrests have been made. The damaged car has been seized, and efforts are underway to determine why the specific address was targeted.
The incident is classified as public endangerment and a violation of the law on explosive and flammable materials.
