Explosion Rocks Hallstahammar Apartment Building

Early Friday morning, an explosion occurred at the entrance of an apartment building in Hallstahammar. No arrests have been made.

Police were alerted to the explosion at 2:42 AM.

– We immediately dispatched several patrols to investigate the incident, and upon arrival, it was quickly evident that there was material damage to the apartment building, said police spokesperson Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro.

The police have cordoned off the area around the crime scene and initiated a preliminary investigation into public endangerment.

– We are awaiting technicians and have also been in contact with the national bomb squad, but it is unclear if they will come to the scene, said Tobias Ahlén-Svalbro.

There are no reports of any physical injuries.

– We are also conducting door-to-door inquiries to gather witness statements, but no one has been arrested.

No residents have needed to be evacuated from the building.
