Explosion in Mölndal: Teen Arrested After Grenade Detonation

A grenade has detonated at the entrance of an apartment building in Mölndal, resulting in the arrest of a teenage boy overnight.

In the early hours of Friday, an explosion occurred at an apartment building in Kållered, Mölndal. The alarm was raised around 12:30 AM, and the area around the address was cordoned off.

– We are on site with police and ambulance. According to the caller, an explosion occurred near an entrance, says Mats Gränsmark, alarm and operations officer at the rescue service.

Grenade Detonated

The glass in the entrance door was shattered by the explosion.

– It was a grenade that detonated, says Johan Ljung, duty officer at the police in the West region, to GP.

The police are investigating the incident as public endangerment and a serious violation of the law on flammable and explosive goods. A boy between 15 and 18 years old has been arrested on suspicion of the explosion.

– There are no personal injuries, only material damage. We have technicians on the way and the national bomb squad, says Johan Ljung, duty officer at the police.

Previous Explosion at the Same Address

In early June, an explosion occurred at the same address. At that time, the police pursued a suspect seen fleeing the scene but were unable to apprehend the individual.

The police cannot currently say if there is any connection between the incidents.

– There could be, of course, but we are investigating it without preconceived notions first, says Johan Ljung to GP.
