Explosion in Ale: Police Discover Another Suspicious Object

Police were alerted to an explosion in a residential area. Upon arrival, they found another suspicious object.

"We have secured the area," says Johan Ljung, the duty officer with the police.

The alarm about an explosion at an apartment building in Nödinge, Ale Municipality, came around 11 PM on Saturday night. Police, rescue services, and ambulances were dispatched to the scene and quickly confirmed that an explosion had occurred outside a property.

"It only took a few minutes for a patrol to find another object they deemed could be dangerous," says Johan Ljung, the duty officer with the police.

Police have evacuated residents from several apartment buildings and cordoned off a large area. The explosion occurred in a courtyard, where the second object was also found.

"We have secured the area. We have told residents to stay away from windows and not to go outside or be near where we are," says Johan Ljung.

By 4:30 AM, the national bomb squad had completed their work on the scene, leaving only minor cordons in place.

"They disarmed and took with them what we believed was a dangerous object that remained. A bomb dog was used to ensure no further threats were present," says Johan Ljung to TT.

Damage to the property is considered limited, and no one has been injured. The national bomb squad is on-site to examine the suspicious object.

The incident is classified as public endangerment and a violation of the law on flammable and explosive materials. No arrests have been made.
