Enjoy the Sun While It Lasts – Rain is on the Way

Tired of talking about the heat? Soon, there will be a change – with plenty of rain and gloom. – By Thursday, we will be back to the dreary, traditional Swedish weather, says meteorologist Johan Groth at StormGeo.

On the continent, the heat has hit hard, with warnings of extreme heat following one another.

In Sweden, the heat has surged, leading to a few days of intense warmth, with temperatures around 30 degrees in several parts of southern Sweden.

On Wednesday, the heatwave is expected to culminate in Sweden, with temperatures as high as 34 degrees in several areas of inner and eastern Götaland.

– It's really important to take advantage of it, we don't know when the sun will return, says Johan Groth.

Uncertain When It Will Be Warm Again

But the high temperatures barely last through Wednesday – then it gets colder. North of Stockholm, temperatures drop drastically already on Wednesday, barely reaching 15 degrees in most places.

On Thursday, the low pressure moves further down the country, and temperatures remain around 20 degrees in southern Sweden.

– There will be some rain showers mixed with sun, but that real heat is gone, says Johan Groth.

The cooler weather will persist through the weekend with a truly dark and rainy Saturday. It will continue similarly next week.

It is unclear when and if it will be really warm in Sweden again.

– It will probably come back at some point, but not for a while, he says.
