Emine Erdogan Urges Melania Trump to Advocate for Gaza's Children

Melania Trump recently wrote a letter to Vladimir Putin, appealing to the Russian president to release Ukrainian children kidnapped during the war. Now, Turkey's First Lady has directed a request to Melania.

Emine Erdogan has urged the American First Lady to turn her attention to children in Gaza, reports Sky News.

Turkey's First Lady Emine Erdogan, married to the country's president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has sent a letter to Melania Trump, asking her to highlight the situation of children in Gaza.

In the letter, dated August 22, Emine Erdogan refers to the estimated 18,000 children who have reportedly lost their lives in the area over the past two years.

She draws parallels to Melania Trump's previous engagement for Ukrainian children. Melania wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin during last week's summit in Alaska.

“Would Fulfill a Historic Responsibility”

In the letter, she appealed to Putin to release the over 20,000 Ukrainian children that Russia has kidnapped since the war began.

“Mr. Putin, you can single-handedly restore their melodic laughter. By protecting these children's innocence, you do more than serve Russia – you serve humanity,” Melania wrote.

She urged Putin to “realize this vision with a stroke of the pen today.”

Emine Erdogan now calls on Melania Trump to send a similar letter to Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In these days, when the world is experiencing a collective awakening and the recognition of Palestine has become a global will, I believe that your appeal on behalf of Gaza would fulfill a historic responsibility towards the Palestinian people,” writes Emine Erdogan.
