A severely injured 95-year-old woman was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. Police have launched a murder investigation, and a man in his 90s has been arrested as a suspect.
"They have a relationship with each other," says Leif Fransson, spokesperson for the South Police Region.
At 2 PM on Tuesday, police were alerted to an address in Staffanstorp where the injured woman was discovered.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, but her life could not be saved, prompting the police to initiate a murder investigation.
A man in his 90s has been arrested as a suspect, and the woman's relatives have been informed of her death.
"We will conduct a technical investigation, and the crime scene is cordoned off. We will also speak with neighbors to see if they heard anything," says Leif Fransson.
An initial interview with the suspect will be held on Tuesday evening, where the police hope to learn more about the background and cause of the events that unfolded in the residence.
