Sara Nilsson, founder of the site Dumpen, confronts alleged pedophiles, referred to as 'gäddor', with her daughters by her side. Despite facing criticism and personal challenges, including a cancer battle, Nilsson remains committed to exposing sex offenders through orchestrated confrontations. The initiative, co-founded with Patrik Sjöberg, aims to reveal predators by creating fictitious child profiles. Despite safety concerns, Nilsson and her team have conducted 700 confrontations without violence.

Dumpen's Sara Confronts Predators with Her Daughters
Sara Nilsson from Dumpen brings her daughters along when confronting 'gäddor', the site's term for pedophiles committing crimes.
Last week, Sara Nilsson, founder and editor-in-chief of the site Dumpen, met a man in western Sweden who had been sex chatting with a fictitious child. Dumpen refers to sex offenders as 'gäddor' and arranges confrontations to expose them.
In this case, the man wanted to pay for nude photos. But when he realized he had been caught, he snatched Sara Nilsson's mobile phone and fled, as reported by Expressen on Monday.
In the video published, a young female voice can be heard.
"Watch out, mom! Be careful!" says the person.
Sara Nilsson now reveals that it is one of her daughters.
– They often accompany me on surveillance, she says.
"If Someone Gets Attacked..."
Sara Nilsson founded Dumpen in 2021 together with former high jumper Patrik Sjöberg. The purpose is to create fictitious children that lure pedophiles and sex offenders into revealing themselves.
When the organization believes it has gathered enough evidence through its site, they set up a confrontation that is filmed and posted on Dumpen's website.
Dumpen has faced criticism as some accused individuals have taken their own lives before the matter could even be investigated by the police.
Sara Nilsson argues that the confrontations are not dangerous for her or the volunteers involved, totaling 200 according to her.
– If someone gets attacked, it's me or Patrik, she says.
At the end of 2024, Sara Nilsson left the association's board due to a tough cancer treatment.
It became important for her that her four children, aged 20 to 26, knew everything about how the association and the site operate. "If something happens to me, they can carry it on."
Neither she nor her daughters want to reveal their names. Partly for security reasons – but also because they play a special role in the confrontations.
– They are out on surveillance. Patrik and I are well-known faces, so we can't do it. If they are involved now, they will also be recognized.
Wearing Bulletproof Vests
She states that Dumpen has conducted 700 confrontations and that those involved have not been subjected to violence at any time. If they suspect something might happen, they wear bulletproof vests.
Are your children critical of anything in your work?
– They think I should be more careful. Sometimes they get really angry. They say they will write a book about me as a mother, how I have been.
– But now they are going through this cancer journey with me. We march together.
