Double Murder in Gothenburg: Police Seek Suspects in Lunden Shooting

No arrests have been made following the double murder in Lunden, Gothenburg, yesterday. Despite the incident occurring in a residential area and near a football field with many children, no reports of gunfire were made to the police.

At 5:38 PM on Tuesday, the alarm was raised, and upon arrival, police found two men in their 20s shot dead in a car in the Lunden district of Gothenburg.

The police have used both drones and helicopters in their operation, but as of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made.

– The police continue to investigate the incident and search for suspects, says Adam Isaksson Samara, spokesperson for the West Police Region.

Found in a Rental Car

According to information from Göteborgs-Posten, the police are working on the theory that the incident may be linked to an ongoing conflict between criminal networks in Biskopsgården. However, the police have not confirmed any details about motives or suspects.

– These are the types of connections we are looking into more closely when something like this happens, of course.

The two victims were found in a rental car at a parking garage. One of them is reported to have rented the car, according to Göteborgs-Posten.

The police cannot currently say how long the two men had been in the car before they were discovered.

– I cannot answer that, says Adam Isaksson Samara.

Concern Among Residents and Sports Clubs

The incident occurred near Överåsvallen, where about 150 children were having football practice at the time of the shooting.

Stefan Göthberg, chairman of Lunden Överås BK, stated on Tuesday that many in the area were shaken.

– We have had problems with people trying to recruit youths before, but it has improved after the police increased their presence, he said.
