Diesel Spill Causes Major Traffic Delays on E20 Near Strängnäs

On Thursday afternoon, a truck began leaking diesel on the E20 between Härad and Lunda traffic junction outside Strängnäs. The accident is causing long queues at the site.

At 3:40 PM, the emergency services in the East received the alert about the diesel spill.

– It was from a tank on a truck, says duty officer Mikael Nygren.

During the operation, there was limited accessibility and significant traffic impact in the direction towards Stockholm, according to the Swedish Transport Administration, leading to kilometer-long queues.

The emergency services completed their work at the site by 6 PM, but the truck remained waiting for a tow. One lane was still closed, and the queues stretched about three kilometers from the accident site.

– It has been a calm operation for us, but there was probably a considerable traffic impact, says Mikael Nygren.

The truck was towed from the site at around 6:30 PM. After the road is cleaned and the towing is completed, the Swedish Transport Administration estimates that the limited accessibility and significant traffic impact could continue until 9:30 PM.
