Danish Highway at Risk of Collapse Causes Delays on Öresund Bridge

The "Sweden Highway" near Copenhagen Airport is at risk of collapsing after large volumes of water, Danish authorities warn. Long traffic queues are reported on the Öresund Bridge.

Danish authorities describe the flooding as an unusual event. Within two hours in the morning, 8,000 liters of water accumulated. Danish police are assisting with road closures.

– The road's foundation is being washed away and the road may crack, says Henrik Stormer of the Copenhagen police to Ritzau.

In several places, including the Öresund Bridge, traffic jams have formed after traffic was rerouted. According to Sydsvenskan, the congestion on the E20 started as early as 7 AM.

Travelers with Suitcases Seen Walking

Several people with suitcases have been seen on the highway heading towards the airport, reports Danmarks Radio. Police urge everyone to remain calm.

"If you're heading to the airport, use public transport. Drivers in queues are asked to stay in their cars and wait for the road to reopen," writes Copenhagen police on X.

The cause of the flooding is under investigation.
