Crown Princess Victoria Opens Up About Her Children's Concerns Over War

TV4's Anders Pihlblad has followed Crown Princess Victoria during her officer training.

In the film "Victoria – An Officer and Crown Princess," we accompany her on group maneuvers in the forest, shooting exercises, as well as lectures and lessons.

The theory is perhaps the hardest part, reveals the Crown Princess when asked by Anders Pihlblad.

– Haha, yes, it would be the sheer volume of books one has to get through, she laughs.

– But I must say it has been interesting, even if the books are thick.

"It's Very Difficult"

Crown Princess Victoria hopes everyone understands that her officer training is about "genuine commitment." This is especially important now, in the new, tougher global climate.

– Our country faces many challenges. It's bigger than just defense issues. It's a serious time, a new security-political situation.

– It's important that we as a country build our capability and preparedness, she says.

But it becomes truly emotional when the Crown Princess's children, Estelle and Oscar, are mentioned. Like all other parents, she has received anxious questions about the war in Ukraine.

– It's very difficult because it's an incomprehensible situation for all of us. We still struggle to grasp what is happening.

– But I believe in being as open as possible, even with children, because they see and hear. If there are questions, one should try to answer them, she says with clear emotion in her voice.

Not least for her daughter Estelle's sake, she is glad to be a role model as a woman in the military.

– The Armed Forces is a large employer in need of much competence. Here, it's a given that women have a place! And that you don't have to be very young either, perhaps, says Crown Princess Victoria with a twinkle in her eye.

"Victoria – An Officer and Crown Princess" premieres on July 9 on TV4 Play and TV4.
