Court Upholds Verdict in Midsommarkransen Restaurant Murder

A gang-affiliated man was shot dead at a restaurant in Midsommarkransen, south of Stockholm, last summer. According to the district court, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old are guilty of the murder. A 41-year-old has been convicted of serious weapons offenses, and the court has now upheld the verdict.

Shortly before 11 PM on August 3 last year, a 13-year-old boy entered the restaurant Tre Vänner in Midsommarkransen. He fired several shots, causing chaos in the venue. The shots hit a 25-year-old man who later died in the hospital from his injuries. The man had connections to gang criminality.

The 13-year-old fled the scene with the help of the 14-year-old, who was waiting outside with an electric scooter. They then checked into a nearby hotel and called the police to ask for a ride back to the youth home they had escaped from.

Verdict Upheld

Last spring, the district court ruled that the teenage boys are guilty of the murder. Since neither of them is of legal age, the case was decided through a special legal process.

A 41-year-old man was sentenced by the district court to four years in prison for serious weapons offenses, as it was his weapon used in the murder. On Monday, the court upheld the district court's verdict.
