Court Upholds Sentences for Men Convicted of Drugging and Assaulting Woman in Kristianstad
Three men drugged and assaulted a woman in an apartment in Kristianstad last year. The men were sentenced in May to several years in prison, and now the Court of Appeal has upheld the verdict.
It was at the end of December last year when the police were called to an apartment in Kristianstad.
A woman had alerted that she was being assaulted. She managed to send a distress message via SMS to a friend, who called the police.
When the patrol arrived at the scene, they found the woman under a blanket on the sofa. According to one of the officers, she was lying there shaking.
Two men, aged 18 and 19, were in the apartment and were arrested. Soon, a third man was also apprehended.
Sentenced to Prison
In May this year, all were convicted of crimes. The 18- and 19-year-olds were sentenced for assault to three years and three months and three years and eight months in prison, respectively. The 19-year-old was also sentenced to deportation as he is an Afghan citizen without Swedish citizenship.
They are also required to pay damages to the woman.
The third man, a 23-year-old, was convicted of assault, offensive photography, and minor drug offenses, receiving a four-month prison sentence.
Now, the Court of Appeal confirms the district court's verdict, with the exception of a minor adjustment to the compensation amounts.
The men deny the charges.
