Court Guard Accused of Serious Data Breach

A guard at a court in central Sweden is accused of accessing confidential documents.

A security guard at a court in central Sweden has been reported by the National Courts Administration's personnel responsibility committee for allegedly committing a serious data breach.

The guard, who also served as a security coordinator, reportedly conducted searches in the court's IT system and accessed large amounts of confidential documents. This was discovered after a log check of his searches revealed extensive access to confidential personal data.

According to the report, there was no direct connection to his duties, which mainly involved responding to emails, visits, and calls.

Denies Wrongdoing

The guard denies any wrongdoing. He claims he never accessed anything that wasn't justified within the scope of his duties and insists he would "never open a document without a valid and clear reason."

According to the personnel responsibility committee, this constitutes a serious data breach, with a penalty range of at least six months to a maximum of six years in prison.
