Linda Lindberg, the group leader of the Sweden Democrats (SD), has addressed the controversy surrounding party member Jessica Stegrud. Stegrud faced criticism for comments on social media and involvement in a filmed confrontation with a far-right activist. Lindberg acknowledges the situation as troubling, while KD leader Ebba Busch condemns Stegrud's actions as inconsistent with Swedish values.

Controversy Surrounds SD's Jessica Stegrud After Criticized Actions
SD's Group Leader Linda Lindberg on Jessica Stegrud
SD's group leader Linda Lindberg has had discussions with SD member Jessica Stegrud. "We had a good conversation yesterday, and I still find the situation troubling and would have preferred better judgment in the future," says Lindberg.
When asked if Stegrud can remain in her position, Lindberg responds:
"I have no other stance at this time."
Parliament member Jessica Stegrud (SD) has faced extensive criticism in recent weeks.
Initially, Stegrud sparked strong reactions after a post on X, where she commented on the ethnic origins of S-politician Lawen Redar and the moderate culture minister Parisa Liljestrand following a debate.
Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that Stegrud participated in filming a notable confrontation alongside far-right activist Nick Alinia—whom she reportedly has a relationship with—and two young men last summer.
Stegrud's involvement in the confrontation and filming recently came to light after an exposé by the anti-racist magazine Expo, and the SD leadership has been criticized for her actions.
SD's group leader Linda Lindberg stated earlier this week that she finds the film "unsettling."
Lindberg now announces that she has had discussions with Stegrud and still finds the situation "troubling." When asked what is troubling, the group leader responds:
"We have had a conversation, she has explained the situation she felt she was in and the sense of insecurity. I can understand that, but I still find the situation troubling. I will not comment further on this matter at this stage."
Busch Comments on Reaction
KD leader Ebba Busch calls Stegrud's actions "poor" and says that the government parties have expressed their criticism to the Sweden Democrats on several levels.
"For me, the behavior is not consistent with Swedish values," says the Deputy Prime Minister to Expressen.
Regarding Ebba Busch's criticism, Lindberg says:
"Ebba Busch is entitled to her interpretations and opinions, and I can understand that. But based on the conversation we had, the member and I, what I have just stated here is what stands. I have no further comments on others' comments or what additional people think about the situation."
