Conjoined Twins Open Up About Life and Love: One Marries

Carmen and Lupita Andrade, 25, are conjoined twins, and one of them recently got married. The sisters are now sharing insights into their new life.

"I don't understand why people need to know things about my private parts," Carmen tells People. Her husband Daniel believes that "people are sex-obsessed."

The 25-year-old conjoined twins Carmen and Lupita Andrade were born in Mexico but grew up in Connecticut. They share some ribs, a circulatory system, and digestive and reproductive systems, but each has their own heart, set of lungs, and stomach.

The sisters underwent a major life change last October when Carmen married Daniel McCormack. Asked about the couple's first date, Lupita says:

"They were really boring and talked for hours, and both were very sweaty."

A laughing Carmen says, "It was summer."

"I Don't Care"

When asked how they handle intimacy while respecting Lupita's boundaries, Carmen says they "constantly communicate." Carmen describes herself as "not an overly affectionate person."

"I think there's a societal expectation that there must be affection all the time in a relationship. Mostly, we joke around," says Carmen.

Regarding when Carmen and Daniel cuddle, Lupita says:

"I have headphones and a phone. I don't care."

"People Are Sex-Obsessed"

Regarding Carmen and Daniel's marriage, they have heard many speculations and misconceptions about their relationship.

"I don't understand why people need to know things about my private parts to humanize us," says Carmen.

Some claim, according to Carmen, that her husband Daniel must "be cheating on me on the side."

"People are sex-obsessed. And honestly, it's none of your damn business," says Daniel.

"Not Here for Your Curiosity"

Lupita "doesn't like being asked if I will ever love Daniel":

"I love him like a brother. That's all."

Daniel describes Carmen as "a genuine person with a funny personality."

"She's adorable. I love my wife," says Daniel.

The sisters say they share their story in hopes of spreading understanding.

"People with disabilities are not here for your curiosity," says Carmen.
