Cold Snap Approaches: Frosty Nights Expected Across Sweden

Sweden is set to experience colder weather, with nighttime temperatures dropping below freezing in some areas. Large parts of the country can also expect frost in the mornings.

It has been a "crisp" Monday morning in parts of Sweden, according to Johan Groth, a meteorologist at Storm.

A front from the British Isles will bring lower temperatures throughout the week.

– This increases the risk of really low nighttime temperatures and frost. I would expect that already tonight [Tuesday, editor's note], there will be frost in large parts of Norrland, Dalarna, and even down towards Värmland. At least ground frost.

In the northern mountains, there might even be some snow showers.

However, despite the cooler weather, daytime temperatures will range between 10 and 15 degrees, with plenty of sunshine expected.

– There will be a lot of sun across almost the entire country, except for the western parts of Jämtland and the Lapland mountains. This will be the case for almost the entire week, says Johan Groth.

– You could say it's like September at its best. Lovely warming sun, and you can feel the air is crisper, cooler, especially noticeable in the evenings, nights, and mornings.

Risk of Ground Frost

Later in the week, towards Thursday and Friday, fog may develop as a result of the lower temperatures.

– You wake up in a birch soup in the morning, and it can be a bit slow to clear. It might take until late morning before the sun breaks it up.

Next weekend, high pressure is expected to continue dominating. Southern Sweden might experience slightly higher temperatures.
