Chaos in Stockholm Metro Ahead of Derby Match

A violent incident occurred in Stockholm's metro on Sunday morning. As a result, trains temporarily stopped servicing Skanstull station.

– Most indications suggest it is related to the derby, says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson.

The metro experienced disruptions after an assault near the station. Trains bypassed Skanstull for a period, and service remains irregular due to the incident.

Later on Sunday, Stockholm teams Djurgården and Hammarby are set to clash in a football derby.

– We know there are football supporters on the trains and in the vicinity, so most signs point to that, says Mats Eriksson.

SL confirms the incident's connection to the match.

– It was supporter-related. The police decided to close the entire station to identify the perpetrators and detain people, says Sophie Gunnarsson from SL's press service.

No perpetrators have been arrested, and the number of people involved is unclear. Police have checked several individuals in search of the perpetrator but have not yet found anyone.

There are no reports of anyone needing hospital treatment.

Altercation at Slussen

According to SL, another incident occurred on a train at Slussen in the morning.

– It seems to have been some form of knife fight, also supporter-related. The station was not closed. It happened on a train, and traffic was stopped for a short time, says Sophie Gunnarsson.

Two people reportedly fought, and several others got involved, police say. However, by the time police were informed, those involved had left the scene.

– It was a fight where someone used a knife. No one is injured, says Mats Eriksson.

Shortly before noon, traffic resumed.
