Carlos Alcaraz Triumphs in London, Eyes Wimbledon Glory

Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz, 22, has secured two consecutive titles at the Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon. He arrives in excellent form for this year's edition. The world number two in tennis won the Queens grass tournament in London.

Alcaraz claimed victory in Sunday's final of the ATP tournament in London with a score of 7–5, 6–7 (5–7), 6–2 against Czech player Jiri Lehecka.

The Spaniard recently won a dramatic and marathon-length final at the French Open in Paris against world number one Jannik Sinner from Italy.

Alcaraz now boasts five tournament titles in 2025 and is poised as a favorite on Wimbledon's grass. The Grand Slam tournament kicks off on June 30, and Alcaraz has won the last two editions.

In the women's tournament, a former champion returns in fine form. Czech player Marketa Vondrousova, who won Wimbledon in 2023, has faced a year of injuries.

She played her second WTA tournament of the year and, after defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals in Berlin, Vondrousova won the final against China's Wang Xinyu with scores of 7–6 (12–10), 4–6, 6–2.

The Czech was ranked 164th in the world before the tournament but is expected to climb significantly in the world rankings.

Her compatriot Barbora Krejcikova is the defending champion at Wimbledon.
