Bomb Scare in Hägersten: Streets Cordoned Off
A police operation is underway in southern Stockholm following reports of a suspicious object in a residential area in Hägersten. Images from the scene show a McDonald's bag where the suspicious item was found, according to sources at the location.
Both emergency services and police are on site. The street has been cordoned off, and the national bomb squad has been dispatched to the address.
"The cordons are quite extensive. Residents are advised to stay in their homes and keep away from windows facing the street," says Mats Eriksson, police spokesperson.
The alarm was raised around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
"A citizen called the police saying, 'There's an object on the street that I think you should investigate,'" says Mats Eriksson.
A local resident at home reported that someone drove over the McDonald's bag.
"It's a McDonald's bag with a thermos," he says.
Police on the scene have urged residents to stay indoors and close doors and windows.
"They are shouting 'close the windows,' 'don't go there,'" the man reports.
