Bert Karlsson turns 80! The music giant shares details about the congratulations from Sweden's celebrity elite, the celebration, the gifts, and his health.
"I've been relying on cortisone shots for a while," says the entrepreneur, who is soon to undergo surgery.
Bert Karlsson boasts a rich resume as a record label director for Mariann, entrepreneur, TV host, and former politician for New Democracy.
He has helped elevate some of Sweden's top artists like Lotta Engberg, Herreys, Lena Philipsson, Vikingarna, and notably Carola Häggkvist.
Karlsson's record label Mariann, which he sold to Warner a few years ago, is behind 17 Melodifestivalen wins and ten second places.

Now turning 80, Bert Karlsson celebrated quietly.
"We were at a spa called Vann with just the family, so it was calm," says Bert Karlsson.
What gifts did you receive?
"I didn't wish for much, so it was simple things. Shirts and underwear, what I need."
The newly 80-year-old also received over 300 congratulatory messages, many from Sweden's celebrity elite.
"I've received greetings from Linda Bengtzing, Jessica Andersson, Magnus Carlsson, and Lasse Holm. Lasse Kronér and Lotta Engberg sent a video message. Charlotte Perrelli sent me a large bouquet of flowers."
What do they write and say?
"They thank me for all the years we've worked together. We've created quite a few artists."
Underwent Surgery – Two More Operations Await
The entrepreneur has previously shared that he suffers from knee osteoarthritis, causing significant pain. He has been receiving cortisone shots to manage the pain.
The 80-year-old has also had hip issues and recently underwent surgery.
"It went great. I barely realized I had surgery."
At the end of the summer, he is scheduled for knee surgery, with another operation planned for early next year.
"It feels good that it's happening now," he says.
