August Heatwave: Sweden Braces for Warmer Than Usual Weather

Summer isn't over yet. Warm air from southern Europe is moving into Sweden, making August particularly warm.

"For those who still have some vacation left, it looks a bit hopeful," says Johan Groth, meteorologist at Stormgeo.

Those who thought summer was over might need to reconsider.

"It looks like slowly rising temperatures and fairly dry weather next week. If I were to guess, it would be on the warmer side, and we shouldn't give up on summer yet," says Johan Groth, meteorologist at Stormgeo.

According to Groth, the increase in temperature is due to warm air coming from southern Europe. Recently, several countries have been hit by extreme heat, leading to multiple fires.

At the same time, Groth notes that the weather could change before the month ends, but overall, it seems it will get warmer.

"Especially in the southern parts of the country. This is because there seems to be a longer period of significant warmth in the northern parts of central Europe," says the meteorologist.

High Summer Temperatures Possible

Next week, temperatures are expected to reach 20 to 25 degrees in the southern half of Sweden.

"However, one should keep in mind that it gets cooler at night. This keeps the average daily temperature slightly lower."

Groth believes that the average temperature for August will be higher than usual.

"If I were to bet on colder or warmer, I would say it will be a warmer August."
