Anna Brandenberg: The Sole Worker Among Summer Speakers Sparks Outrage

What kind of summer talk is this? I become incredibly angry listening to Anna Brandenberg. How did Bibbi Rödöö dare to let her speak?

Eminem's "Lose Yourself" sets the tone, and I nearly choke on my coffee. Caregiver Anna Brandenberg doesn't have time for coffee at all. As she begins to talk about her 20 years in home care, effectively narrated like diary entries, I'm transported back in time, to all those summers rushing on a bike between helpless, lonely pensioners.

It was stressful then, often heartbreaking. Yet it was a paradise compared to the minute-controlled operations that Brandenberg and her colleagues are subjected to now.

She is the only worker among this year's summer speakers, and that alone drives me crazy. How insane is it that she has to pay for her work shoes herself? To be crushed by stress and humiliation? Unable to live on her salary? Why did Bibbi Rödöö allow this feel-bad story from the working class into my moment in the sun?

I guess it's for public enlightenment.

And it works like a slap in the face. Listen, and read Brandenberg's debate article, published here in Expressen.
