André Petersson Departs HV71

The announcement is here. André Petersson is leaving HV71.

– We want to thank him for everything, says General Manager Björn Liljander.

André Petersson signed a three-year contract for the 2022/23 season after spending eleven years abroad.

It is now confirmed that the star is leaving HV71 after his contract expired following the past season.

Expressen previously reported that the club offered him a new contract with a significantly lower salary.

A deal that Petersson has declined.

– André is an incredibly skilled hockey player, and we are very happy and grateful to have had him in our organization for the past three years. He has done a lot of good for us. He is a talented player, no doubt, says Björn Liljander.

How has the dialogue between you been after the season?

– It has been on and off. If we weren't interested in André, we would have said goodbye to him right after the season. But we like him and have had a dialogue. Now we have reached a decision to part ways. It's nothing dramatic – we had a good conversation yesterday and wish him the best in the future.

Petersson played his first season with HV71 in the club's J18 team in 2006/07.

In 2010, he won the Swedish Championship gold with the club.
