Alva Bratt Reveals Insights Behind 'Barracuda Queens'

Plays Lollo in the Netflix series with a second season

After the first season of 'Barracuda Queens', there was a concrete idea of how a second round of episodes could unfold.

Alva Bratt, 26, liked the idea, especially since the plot is focused on art. "Clever and fun," she describes it now.

Regarding the character Lollo Millkvist, I suggest that it is the naivety of youth that gives Lollo the courage to do and carry out everything proposed in the series.

– "What a beautiful word, the naivety of youth. Lollo is smart and brutally naive at the same time," says Alva Bratt and continues:

– "Sometimes I, Alva, pause and think that Lollo has no limits. I love that about the character, but if possible, her naivety has grown even more in the second season."

On top of that, Lollo doesn't seem as smart when it comes to love.

– "There she is more fragile. I see her as a lioness when it comes to her friends, but it may be that what happens in the second season is her first great love. Then it's a new world for her."

– "She has had love interests before that viewers have met, but this might be the first taste of real adult life, and Lollo is not as ready as she thinks. It's very exciting that she doesn't see what's really going on."

Alva Bratt: "Followed a Pattern"

The new 'Barracuda Queens' is set in the year 2000. Alva Bratt was born two years earlier. She says she remembers the early 2000s and that it "actually doesn't feel so strange with the music and fashion" in the series.

– "A lot is recurring right now. Clothing-wise, you don't look so different. I'm more amazed at how fast time goes. The early 2000s are 20-25 years ago, which is completely crazy."

Is there anything on a detailed level that you appreciated about, so to speak, looking back to that early 2000s?

– "Lollo has still followed a pattern since the first season. When it comes to costumes, we start several months before filming because there's so much to test and try out," says Alva Bratt and continues:

– "These girls are relatively normal upper-class girls. Their clothes may not stand out much but are very nice. I would have loved to take a lot of clothes that all the girls in the series wear."

– "The one with the nicest wardrobe in the second season is Cecilia Frode's character. She has such a damn good style."

Did you feel that you opened your eyes to any of the artists whose songs are played in the new season?

– "It's funny you ask that because just before you called, I was trying to find if someone had compiled a Spotify playlist with the songs played. We girls watched the episodes together, and as soon as a good song came on, we were all like 'yeah' and got happy."

– "But you know, the opening song with Fatboy Slim, 'Praise You', it wasn't a rediscovery but has been close at hand in my life. It's awesome."
