AIK Faces Injury Challenges Ahead of Allsvenskan Restart

This weekend marks the restart of the Allsvenskan. On Monday, AIK's training session was missing six defenders and John Guidetti. – It's really tough to decide what to do, says the forward.

On Sunday, AIK will restart their Allsvenskan season. Rivals IFK Göteborg will visit the national arena for what promises to be a festive event.

During AIK's first training session of the week, several players were absent, and John Guidetti trained individually.

The absence was particularly noticeable in the defensive line. No fewer than six defenders were missing.

Eskil Edh, who has been injured for some time, Elvis van der Laan, Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, Filip Benkovic, Jere Uronen, and Mads Thychosen.

Fullbacks Injured: "Hit by a Ball in the Head"

AIK's head coach reports that Benkovic and "Sotte" trained on Sunday and completed a conditioning session in the gym on Monday. They will participate in the next training and be fully ready for the weekend.

The outlook is not as bright for the fullbacks – Uronen and Thychosen.

– Thychosen took a hit against Bodö. We haven't received a definitive status from the medical team today, but we are optimistic that he will be ready for the weekend, says Mikkjal Thomassen.

– Jere was hit by a ball in the head against Sirius, so he has been resting. He trained yesterday, and the medical team is closely monitoring him. It was quite a big hit, so we think it might take one or two days. Who else did you ask about?

Elvis?

– Elvis is on vacation. We first had the normal vacation. Then the national team players went on vacation. Because we played these matches, Elvis had to postpone his vacation. His vacation started after the Sirius match, and he will be back on Friday.

Guidetti May Miss the Blåvitt Match: "Really Tough"

John Guidetti also did not train with the team. The forward was forced to leave the match against Bodö/Glimt with a thigh strain in the first half and missed the Sirius match.

Whether he will be able to play on Sunday is still uncertain.

– I take it day by day. You try not to think too short-term. Of course, you want to play all the matches. But you have to weigh everything.

– Right now, it's too early to say. Today went really well. I could run quite fast and without pain. It's really tough to decide what to do. But as my son usually says: So far, so good.

AIK restarts their Allsvenskan season at home against IFK Göteborg at 2 PM on Sunday.
