Acko Ankarberg Johansson, Sweden's Health Minister, has announced her resignation, stating it was her own decision. Despite recently running for another term in parliament, she has decided to step down, citing the demands of the role. Party leader Ebba Busch confirmed there is no criticism of Ankarberg Johansson's work, and the decision aligns with the nomination process for the upcoming election.

KD leader Ebba Busch states that Acko Ankarberg Johansson requested to step down as Health Minister.
"Now there will be a change of guard, there is no criticism of Acko's work," says Ebba Busch.
On Monday, Acko Ankarberg Johansson (KD) announced her departure from the government, despite having recently run for another term in parliament.
This raises questions about whether she chose to step down or if party leader Ebba Busch wants a fresh start with a new team ahead of next autumn's election.
"Acko is leaving because she asked to leave. She has laid an incredibly important foundation, but as we now need to step up two levels, it requires everything from a person," says Ebba Busch.
Busch explains Ankarberg Johansson's quick change of decision by the timing of the nomination process for the next election.
"It's nomination time, and if you don't want to start premature speculation, you need to give a decision. It's not more complicated than that, even though I understand it may look strange," says Ebba Busch.
"That's Not True"
Acko Ankarberg Johansson herself writes on Facebook that the speculations about her being ousted or becoming ill are not true.
"Ebba and I know each other well, we have worked together in good and tougher times for the party. My decision to leave has given her extra work," she writes.
She concludes the post by wishing Ebba and the party good luck.
"My next work will not be in party politics. Nearly 40 years of work is a good day's work, and I will consider what the next step will be.
Wishing Ebba and the party all the best and the best election result!"
