Abdulqani Shire Sentenced to Life for Rosengård Murder

A man who was 18 at the time of the crime has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder in Rosengård.

The shooting occurred in broad daylight on Ramels väg in Rosengård on August 26 last year. Police found a 27-year-old man on the ground, shot dead with six bullets.

Less than a kilometer away, Abdulqani Shire was arrested, who was 18 at the time of the crime. Less than ten minutes had passed since the shots were fired.

Shire had no connection to the victim and acted on behalf of someone else, according to the verdict. He was on the run from a care home.

He left the care home on August 21. Five days later, he committed the murder.

The murdered man had ties to criminal networks and is believed to have sold drugs for Ismail Abdo, known as Jordgubben, writes Sydsvenskan. The act is linked to a split within the Foxtrot network, according to the newspaper.

Abdulqani Shire himself had no apparent ties to criminal networks previously, according to the verdict.

“Planned and Unprovoked”

The district court points out several aggravating circumstances in the case. The murder was preceded by planning and preparation, and there is no indication that Abdulqani Shire was exploited or misled into committing the act.

Instead, his actions in the days before show that he was “fully aware and acted rationally based on the circumstances” in a way that led to the fatal shooting.

– It was a planned and unprovoked attack on a person who was lured to the location and was defenseless in the situation. The conduct, in the district court's opinion, was of such a particularly serious nature that the penalty should be life imprisonment, says Judge Daniel Svensson in the press release.

Abdulqani Shire is also convicted of endangering others and serious weapons offenses. He must also pay damages to the victim's relatives.
