17-Year-Old Student Charged: Consumed Raw Meat and Drank Blood at School

A 17-year-old boy is charged with torturing a sheep to death at an agricultural high school. The investigation uncovers a dark story. A tale of a boy who, instead of eating school meals, brings raw meat and offal. And who chats about an unknown addiction – to drinking blood.

At the end of January this year, after school staff heard "bubbling strange sounds," a ram was found severely injured in the woods near an agricultural high school in Värmland.

The trachea was cut in several places, and there was a blow to the head.

The sheep was alive but had to be euthanized.

Initially, there were suspicions that the sheep had been attacked by a predator, but a wildlife officer from the county administrative board assessed that the injuries were more likely from a knife and axe – and then suspicions were directed at a 17-year-old student at the school.

The student, who was immediately suspended, admitted in conversations with school staff that he had released a total of three rams the night before. According to him, to "see how they reacted to freedom."

"I believe in animal freedom. That they should be able to... live freely," he says in a police interview, denying that he would have harmed the sheep.

During a search of the school's dormitory, knives, an axe, a saw, and a blood-stained sledgehammer were found in the boy's room.

He is now charged with severe animal cruelty.

The boy has also been taken into custody under the Care of Young Persons Act (LVU), on the recommendation of the Swedish Security Service (Säpo). This is "to protect others from potential actions he might perform" after it emerged that the boy holds radical right-wing views, according to reports by NWT.

School's Alarm About the Boy's Eating Habits

In the police investigation, the boy is described as a loner.

School staff report that he previously requested to have chickens in his room at school, which was denied. The boy is also said to have asked to do an internship at a slaughterhouse – and expressed a desire to "eat a sheep."

The same staff had previously alerted social services after the boy's "very strange eating habits" raised concerns.

In interviews, it is stated that he does not eat in the school cafeteria – instead, the boy has brought raw meat from home, and offal, which he eats in his room. An employee reports that other students at the school have reacted to the boy sometimes "eating the raw meat in the dark in the dormitory."

"He drinks chicken blood and eats offal," an employee says in an interview.

"He doesn't eat school food but mostly eats raw meat that he brings from home and eats raw meat, raw eggs, and unpasteurized milk," an employee reports.

Decapitated Chicken Head

During another search, police found carcasses and meat in a refrigerator, as well as a decapitated chicken head in a plastic bag in the trash outside, along with bloody gloves.

In interviews, the boy confirms that it is his.

"I eat it. I eat the brain like that and then chop it with a screwdriver and a hammer or something like that.

"I ate it. Not the whole head, of course, but the rooster's comb and yes, what's there. The meat on the neck and everything."

The Boy's Own Words About Drinking Blood

In the boy's phone, police found a "conversation" in English with the AI tool Chat GPT.

"Is there a name for people who can't feel peace without consuming life?" he asks.

The boy also asks questions about his desire to drink blood.

"Can drinking blood become an addiction? I feel more and more craving every time I drink it," he writes, and continues:

"How could I explain to others that killing the animal gives me a sense of power and that consuming their blood is a trophy for me and that I somehow enjoy it?"

Chat GPT then recommends a substitute "to manage these feelings when you don't have access to blood."

The boy responds firmly:

"I don't want a substitute. I want blood."
