A low-pressure system has settled over Sweden, bringing a prolonged period of rain and thunderstorms. Meteorologist Sverker Hellström warns that no part of the country is guaranteed dry weather, with the heaviest showers expected in western Sweden. The unsettled weather is likely to persist until at least Tuesday, with a potential for stabilization by Thursday.

100 Hours of Rain Threat Looms Over Sweden: 'Heavy Showers Expected'
It's time for holidaymakers to swap sandals for boots. A low-pressure system has parked over the country and doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.
– No part of the country is guaranteed dry weather, says meteorologist Sverker Hellström.
The heaviest showers are expected to hit western Sweden this weekend, from Bohuslän up to southern Norrland. But no one is safe from the rain, according to SMHI meteorologist Sverker Hellström.
– No part of the country is guaranteed dry weather on Saturday, and locally there may be heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms. It's quite an unstable weather pattern right now, he says.
The cooler air from the south also seems to be pushing into the warmer and more humid air in the north over the coming days.
– This will also make it unstable. When two air masses meet, it usually results in rain and thunderstorms, says Sverker Hellström.
Wet and Windy Conditions Expected in Southern Sweden
The gray skies are expected to remain until the beginning of next week, especially in southern Sweden where it could be both wet and windy.
– It looks like it will last until at least Tuesday, but it's hard to specify where the precipitation will occur. As mentioned, it can be very local, says Hellström.
For around 100 hours, the risk of rain will persist, and only by Thursday are the clouds expected to clear.
– Then there might be a more stable period, but even that is not certain, says Hellström.
