MC Gangs on the Rise – Risk of Increased Violence
The police assess that violence between the established motorcycle gangs in Sweden is expected to rise in 2025. There is also concern that the clubs may start using younger individuals in violent acts, according to a new report by Acta Publica.
Several sources, including police officers, warn that violence between the MC gangs may increase and that incidents of deadly violence will occur within the MC environment during the year.
Another concern is that the clubs might begin using younger and external individuals in violent acts, intending for them to face the consequences of the crime. Previously, MC gangs have not used outsiders, as they wanted to maintain control over their operations.
Hells Angels and Bandidos Continue to Dominate
According to Acta Publica, the dominant MC gangs in Sweden remain Hells Angels and Bandidos. The gangs consist of approximately 700 members, fairly evenly distributed between the two groups. Acta Publica notes a worrying rate of expansion, particularly in the Bandidos supporter group X-team.
The police have made several interventions against Hells Angels recently. Meanwhile, the Bandidos gang is highlighted as a more openly criminal group.
Risk of National Conflicts
Currently, there are no major national conflicts between the large clubs in Sweden. However, several regional and local tensions are simmering. These tensions could lead to national unrest and conflicts, writes Acta Publica in the report.
Bandidos continues to recruit new members and has established itself in places like Gotland and Borlänge. The club's expansion rate, with recruitments from other criminal environments, risks creating local conflicts that could grow larger.
